Dear Senator Cleland:
I have been getting numerous complaints through my website,
http://gulfstatecreditharrassmnet.freeservers.com. I have gotten emails detailing attempts by Gulf State to collect payments on nonexistent accounts. People tell me that they are paid up with their accounts, and yet Gulf State has attempted to collect on them. I suggest to these people to complain to the Federal Trade Commission. I even have a web link to the FTC. Gulf State has offices in the State of Georgia; they are in our backyards perpetuating dubious collecting practices. This is their address: GULF STATE CREDIT, LLCI would like the FTC to expedite these complaints. A web search on Gulf State Credit will reveal numerous postings complaining about this company. I want this operation to close down. I would like to see the company and the people connected with it to cease doing business forever. In general I would like Congress to investigate the abuses of collection agencies, and I would like to know why the Federal Trade Commission is so lax in its enforcement efforts. I am angry and infuriated that these characters are allowed to operate. Working people in general do not have a lot of time, and money to hire lawyers, and file complaints on these outfits. This allows these companies to keep perpetuating their practices. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours truly,
Webmaster of Gulfstatecredit.harrassment.freeservers.com
